About Me
I started writing professionally during my time as a healthcare consultant from 2004 to 2007. In that position, I wrote articles about various aspects of the healthcare industry for a newsletter distributed to hospitals nationwide.
Since then, I've focused largely on my writing career. I've written several thousand articles on a wide range of subjects including food, travel, pet care, technology, medical conditions, and much more. This has given me plenty of experience in researching initially unfamiliar subjects.
These days, I'm the Guide to Oakland for About.com, a New York Times company.

Food
I spent two years working at San Francisco's top gourmet pizza restaurant (according to Sunset Magazine and the 2011 Zagat Guide). As a result, I'm familiar with good food. I've expanded on this experience by writing dozens of articles about food -- everything from restaurant reviews to instructions on freezing berries.
Local Interest
I'm a fifth-generation San Francisco East Bay native. I grew up in Berkeley, Oakland, the Richmond hills, and on the peninsula. I even spent a couple of years living in "the City" itself. In other words, I know the area inside-out. I'm fascinated by the Bay Area -- its history, its culture, its amazing food, its beautiful landscapes -- and always love getting a chance to write about it.
